Kids Protection Planning

The following is based on a true story:

Carlos and Sarah have created an amazing life together.

They love their son Franklin to no end. He is kind, sensitive, and sweet. He loves catching bugs, playing soccer, and all things Star Wars. They suspect he is a genius.

When pregnant with their daughter Danielle, they worried they would not love her as much as they did Franklin. But their hearts expanded exponentially when she came into the world and even though she’s completely different from Franklin, they love her every bit as much as they love him.

Danielle has a mischievous sense of humor, competes with her big brother at every opportunity, and makes them laugh so hard sometimes it hurts. She loves princesses, gymnastics, and all things purple. They suspect she is a genius.

Carlos and Sarah are attentive, involved parents whose primary focus is protecting, providing for, and raising their kids. They try not to work late so they can have as much quality family time together as possible, although Carlos’ job does occasionally require him to travel.

They feel fortunate to have found Allison to help them care for the children when they both have to be away from home. She is patient, loving, and even though she’s only twenty, they trust her completely.

One evening, Sarah has to work late and Carlos is out of town on business. But Allison is available to take care of the kids until about eight o’clock when Sarah expects to be home.

Sarah leaves the office on schedule, at 7:30, but while driving through a particularly lonely, winding stretch of road on the way home she swerves to miss an animal -she’s not sure what – that darts out in front of her from the tree line.

She skids, loses control, jumps the curb, goes through a guardrail, and her car rolls four and a half times before coming to rest at the bottom of a steep ravine. Even though Sarah was wearing her seatbelt, she is killed in the violent crash and will not be discovered until sometime the next day.

At about 8:30, Allison tries Sarah’s cell phone and leaves a voicemail message. Allison tries again at 9:00, and then several more times between 9:00 and 10:00. By then, Allison is frantic. It’s never been like Sarah to be late without calling first. Finally, at 10:30 Allison calls her parents and asks them what to do. They tell her to call the police. She does.

Officer Mariko arrives shortly after 11:00 and questions Allison about the situation. After learning of the children asleep in the next room, he asks Allison if Carlos and Sarah have any relatives nearby. Allison does not know of any. After questioning her a bit further, Officer Mariko tells Allison she can go home.

Allison refuses, stating she will stay with Franklin and Danielle until Sarah comes home. Officer Mariko tells her that he cannot allow that to happen because she is not a legal guardian, and that he must call Child Protective Services who will be responsible for the kids until the parents are located. He orders Allison to leave.

After receiving notification from the police, a social worker from Child Protective Services arrives sometime after midnight. Franklin and Danielle are by now awake, terrified, and crying for “Mommy.” The social worker, unable to find a temporary placement that can accommodate both children immediately, takes Franklin to a foster home and drops Danielle off at an emergency shelter.

That’s right. On the worst night of little Franklin’s and Danielle’s lives, they are told their mommy isn’t coming back, taken out of their home, separated, and then handed off from one stranger to the next. But it didn’t have to be that way… and it doesn’t have to be that way for your children if something ever happens to you.

A Kids Protection Plan ensures your kids are always taken care of by whom you want, in the way you want, no matter what.

If you are ready for the total assurance and peace of mind knowing you’ve done everything you can to protect your children from ever being removed from your home and placed in the arms of strangers, even for a moment, please click here to get started.

Each Kids Protection Plan includes:

  1. Legal documents naming short-term guardians who can be there immediately for your children so they’ll never be taken into the arms of strangers, not even for a minute.
  2. Letters to your short-term guardians so the people you’ve named will know exactly what to do if called upon.
  3. Instructions to everyone who takes care of your kids as to what to do if you are in an accident … so they know exactly who to call.
  4. Legal documents naming long-term guardians who you trust to raise your children just as you would want.
  5. Letters to your long-term guardians letting them know what to do if called upon.
  6. Instructions and guidelines for your long-term guardians on how you want your kids to be raised … with your values, insights, and stories.
  7. Medical Powers of Attorney for your minor children so the next time they travel without you, or you travel without them, you know they’ll get the medical care they need.
  8. A custom, personalized I.D. card for your wallet stating you have minor children at home and indicating exactly who should be contacted if you are ever in an accident.
